Carolyn Lock

Artist Statement

Working in oil, Carolyn explores color and perspective through subjects such as bridges, fishing vessels, and her new “rusty gears” series. Inspired by scenes from New Bedford, Little Compton and Providence, her paintings celebrate the industrial heritage of the coast. Her work captures the interplay between the engineered constructions we may take for granted and the natural beauty of water and light. 

Formally trained in fine art, Carolyn also studied and worked as a graphic designer and architectural illustrator in Boston. She is a member of Four Corners Gallery in Tiverton, RI, and is a member and former President /Chair of South Coast Artists, Inc.
